Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL)

Putting my cards on the table from the start, Norwegian Cruise Line (or NCL) will always hold a really special place in my heart - this is the cruise line that started my absolute love affair with the industry as a whole and allowed me to discover my passion. I took my first cruise onboard Norwegian Escape back in 2018, and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made in life. From that point on, I knew that I had found my absolute favourite way to travel and see the world, and wanted to find a way to share with the world (or, at least, whoever would listen!). A few years later, here we are, on FraserAtSea.com (if you’d told me back in 2018 that I’d have my own website to tell people about my cruises, I’d have called you totally crazy, but here we are, and I’m so glad you’ve found me!).

Anyway, let’s talk about the cruise line. Norwegian Cruise line are a US-based cruise line (they have their Corporate offices in Miami, Florida, and also sales offices in Sunrise, Florida and Mesa, Arizona), and have been operating for almost 60 years at the point of me writing this. They consider themselves to be true innovators within the cruise industry, and claim to be the first cruise line to remove set dining times onboard cruise ships, allowing passengers (or guests) to dine on their time, rather than having a time dictated to them by the line - well done, Norwegian! The onboard experience is pretty relaxed and chilled out - you’re not going to find those really stuffy-looking formal nights that you’ve seen elsewhere on here - don’t worry!

Norwegian Cruise Line currently operates 20 cruise ships all over the world, all of which are listed here in alphabetical order: Norwegian Aqua (launching 2025), Norwegian Bliss (launched 2018), Norwegian Breakaway (launched 2013), Norwegian Dawn (launched 2002), Norwegian Encore (launched 2019), Norwegian Epic (launched 2010), Norwegian Escape (launched 2015), Norwegian Gem (launched 2007), Norwegian Getaway (launched 2014), Norwegian Jade (launched 2006), Norwegian Jewel (launched 2005), Norwegian Joy (launched 2007), Norwegian Pearl (launched 2006), Norwegian Prima (launched 2022), Norwegian Sky (launched 1999), Norwegian Spirit (launched 1998), Norwegian Star (launched 2001), Norwegian Sun (launched 2001), Norwegian Viva (launched 2023), and also Pride of America (launched 2005). I’ve found it really interesting to discover just how different each ship is - hopefully across my posts below and content elsewhere, I can help to show you, too!
